Naloxone Kits now available

Increasing the number of Naloxone take home kits in the community will certainly increase the availability of the narcotic antidote and reduce the risk of overdose.  As Pharmacists we believe that Naloxone take home kits are a great method of harm reduction.

How To Access Naloxone

Although Naloxone kits can be prescribed by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner, you can also get one from your Pharmacist without a prescription.  Call or come to see our  Pharmacists if you want to obtain a Naloxone Emergency Rescue Kit either for you or an at risk family member.  Consultation is discrete, private and confidential and your interactions with a Pharmacist are protected under Manitoba’s Personal Health Information Act.

What Is The Cost?

Naloxone kits including the pharmacist consultation and rescue training (if required) cost between $50.00 and $60.00.  Some insurance plans cover the cost when the kits have been prescribed.  Pharmacists can prescribe these kits without consultation with a prescriber.  Ask our Pharmacist about your coverage.
